AutoExtrude Sterring Wheel Gauge Pods (SW20)
We have partnered up with AutoExtrude and we are now offering their 3D printed steering wheel gauge pod solution for the MR2 sw20
SW20 Toyota MR2 Steering Wheel Gauge Pod! This has been asked and requested many times in the MR2 community. AutoExtrude has done it again and is pleased to offer this complete easy to install steering wheel gauge pod.
Placement:
The pods are uniquely placed in the cabin on TOP of the clamshell covers where a very minimal amount of range is lost with the factory gauge cluster. The left pod hides the tachometer under 1000rpms but lean in and tilt your head ever so slightly and you can see it just fine. The right gauge pod hides your speed after 140mph. If you're looking down at your speed going this fast, you got bigger issues, lol.
Mounting:
You have two options. You can utilize the included 3mm screws, drill four very minor holes and secure from inside the steering column plastic with a couple of included screws OR if you don't want to ruin your plastic in a permanent fashion, feel free to use some double-sided tape (not included).
Material:
Made from the same black ASA plastic AutoExtrude has used for years on all of our products. They can not melt, warp, UV and Weather resistant. Rest assured it's the highest grade plastic possible for this application.
Back Housing:
This choice is the back of the gauge pod. If it is "uncapped" then the back of the gauge pod is open and has no cap. If the steering wheel gauge pod is "capped" then it has a cap on the back so its a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
Wiring:
The steering wheel gauge pod uncapped doesn't allow for the wires to flow through the bottom base. The capped gauge pod makes the wires flow through the bottom base so you can hide the wires perfectly. You will have to make a hole for the steering wheel gauge pod to make the wires flow through the bottom. If you do not want to make a hole for wires, you should choose the uncapped version.
LHD or RHD:
No difference! We welcome both!
.
Note #1: Capped gauge pods are 2" limited. This measurement is your gauge body depth. You do not count the mounting screws or the gauge bezel for this measurement. Most modern gauges are shallow in-depth but please confirm with the manufacture of the gauge before you purchase.
